Tax Attorneys...

There are many things to consider before you hop on a plane and head overseas to teach. I think many people, myself included, don’t stop and look at all of the pros and cons of moving overseas. In my first assessment of moving I thought things couldn’t be better, but after 6 years I am not so sure.

My life overseas has been great, but financially crippling. I am worried about any consequences of returning to the states. This is due to my failure to file taxes and do my duty. I wish I would have consulted a few international tax law attorneys and all of my ducks in a row.

It is not impossible to live and make money teaching. I just wish I would have looked at all of my options before moving to Thailand. It has been great, but the money is terrible and so are the benefits. Many other countries offer so much more in terms of pay and bonuses.

With all of the new rules coming into affect and it’s impact financially I find it difficult to believe that Thailand will have many teachers left. The ones who do stay will, surely, have a better financial situation and can demand more. There is also talk of making teachers take a 1 year course, at a cost of 60,000 Baht, in order to teach here.

Honeymoon Tours!!!

My cousin is getting married this October. Yesterday I was talking to her about her honeymoon plans and stuff!! She said they had really tought about it yet. She has been a little busy with all the marriage works off late and she asked me to suggest her some good places fpr her honeymoon!!! They live in Texas and they always have the warm weather there. So it would not really excite to them to go a place with tropical climate again!!!

If ever we go out of the country this summer, I would most definitely want to go to California! I can’t really think of other cities in the US besides New York, Los Angeles and other usual cities that tourists go to.. but California hits me hard, just because my most ever favorite band in the whole world (Incubus) is from that place (California)! Most likely I would suggest them that they should stay in San Diego and also suggest them to check out the San Diego entertainment they have to offer to tourists and visitors. The San Diego events schedule is really big with a lot of events lined up for every day of the week!!! I am so excited for them!! I hope they have a really good time there!!

For Budding Entrepreneurs

I was away from home last summer. My friend suddenly sent me an SMS telling that the place that we had occupied before for our business was vacant and he wanted to rent it again so we could revive our business. Both of us had started a small scale business last year. However, things did not go the way we planned it would , and business fared really bad. We incurred huge losses and we did not have the money to carry it out as well. So we had to shut down.I was shocked when he told me this again and we decided we should sit and to talk about it.

So once I reached home, we had a really long talk. He had come over and were talking all day. We were narrowing on the reasons for the failure of our previous venture. And then, what else we must have done and we failed to last time !!! However what impressed me this time was the way he spoke!!! He seemed a lot more and what ever he spoke made a lot of sense!! Since the day of closing down of our previous venture,he had become a lot more serious with life. He has been doing a lot of reading off late. Most of them were business magazines and books that talked about business. I was impressed!!! He told me that a few of the ideas that he had was from a book written by Dennis C Carey. No wonder he made lot of sense!!!

I had read that book too. It is all about running a company. It talks of all that it takes to start a business and what are the various steps that it takes to make it a success!!! A very informative book indeed. For all of them planning of starting your own venture, I would say that it is mandatory that you get the book now!!!

And as far as our plan is concerned, this time we decided that we must take our time!!!

Era of cheap food is over says the World Bank

Falling productivity and high oil prices are likely to keep global food prices at elevated levels for another decade, a top World Bank official said here today.

"Oil prices are not going to come down. The era of cheap food is over and prices are likely to remain high for at least the next ten years," World Bank South Asia Region Vice- President Praful Patel told PTI.

He said the current situation has "caught the whole world by surprise" and the crisis was due to a combination of factors, he said.

The effective measure in the South Asian region will be a pro-poor and pro-agriculture approach with "coordinated and cohesive" policies and implementation, he said.

A global financial mechanism to fund agriculture productivity was required and the World Bank is setting up a special trust fund of USD 800 million to support such initiatives.

"The World Bank will contribute USD 50 million from its net income, while the remaining will be raised through donors like various UN agencies," Patel said.

The global bank has already increased its South Asian commitment for agriculture to USD one billion from USD 300 million last year.

A substantial part of these funds will be diverted towards R&D to improving the farm productivity and developing high quality seeds.

"This is in addition to what the World Bank will be spending on building roads in rural areas," he said.
